Yes — video chat turns on both your camera and mic so you and your match can see and hear each other. Your browser asks permission once, and you can revoke it any time. Prefer to stay off-camera? Voice chat uses only your mic, and text chat needs neither.
Yes. There is no real name, email, or phone number — the other person sees your live video and a generated guest username, nothing that identifies you. One tap on Skip drops the current person and puts a new face in front of you.
When the network allows, your camera feed streams straight to your match over an encrypted WebRTC connection, so the video is not stored on our servers. Because video is bandwidth-heavy, a strong Wi-Fi or 5G connection gives the smoothest cam-to-cam quality; on a weak link the picture softens before the call drops.
Yes — it runs in mobile Safari and Chrome on iOS and Android with no app to install. Point the front camera at yourself, tap Start, and you are matched. Charging while you chat helps, since live video is one of the more battery-hungry things a phone browser can do.
Yes, and video is the one mode where moderation looks at the actual stream: feeds are scanned in real time for nudity and explicit content, and anything flagged is blurred or cut on the spot. In-call Report sends the case to our team, and Skip removes anyone the moment you are uncomfortable.
Yes. If the camera feels like too much, voice chat keeps the live back-and-forth with mic only, and text chat is pure messaging. Both share the same anonymous identity and matching, so you can switch modes without starting over.
Cam-to-cam matching is free for everyone, with no limit on how long you search. Premium is optional and only adds filters like gender and nearby matching — it never gates the camera itself.
Video calls on Yapping run on WebRTC, the same real-time technology browsers use for live video. When the connection allows, your feed travels over an encrypted peer-to-peer link, so it stays between you and the person you matched with rather than being stored on our servers. Because video moves a lot of data, quality adapts to your connection and eases off on a weak signal before dropping the call.
Matching and signaling run over secure transports (TLS). If a direct peer-to-peer path is not available, a relay server helps complete the call — it carries the stream to the other side but does not publish or record it.
We treat live video as a high-trust surface. Automated frame scanning and community reporting work together to reduce nudity, spam, and abuse during calls.
See our Terms & Conditions and Child Safety Policy.
Camera and microphone access are requested only by your browser when you choose to start video chat. Yapping does not silently enable your cam or mic, and we do not record or sell your live video streams. You can revoke permissions any time in browser settings. For data handling details, read our Privacy Policy.
Random video chat on Yapping is for adults only. You must be 18 years of age or older to use video features. By continuing, you confirm you meet this requirement.
Tap Start and we pair you with someone else who is ready to video chat — no signup required.
Approve camera access once, and WebRTC opens an encrypted connection so you can see and hear each other in real time.
