Absolutely. Yapping has a dedicated text chat mode at /chat that uses the same anonymous identity and instant matching. No camera, no microphone, just messages.
Random voice matching is free for everyone, forever. We offer optional Premium for gender filters, nearby matching, and more extras — but you don't need it to start a voice chat.
Yapping Random Voice Chat uses audio call technology built on WebRTC for live stranger calls with low latency. When possible, audio travels over encrypted peer-to-peer (P2P) connections so your voice stays between you and your matched partner — not stored on our servers as a continuous recording.
Signaling and random voice matching run over secure transports (TLS). If a direct P2P path is unavailable, a TURN relay may be used only to complete the session — still without publishing your audio publicly.
We treat live voice as a high-trust surface. Community reporting works to reduce harassment, spam, and abuse on anonymous voice chat.
See our Terms & Conditions and Child Safety Policy.
Microphone access is requested only by your browser when you choose to start voice chat. Yapping does not silently enable your mic, and we do not record or sell your live audio. You can revoke permissions any time in browser settings. For data handling details, read our Privacy Policy.
Random voice chat on Yapping is for adults only. You must be 18 years of age or older to use voice features. By continuing, you confirm you meet this requirement.
