Yes — voice chat uses your mic, but never your camera, so nothing about how you look or where you are ends up on screen. Your browser asks for the mic once and you can revoke it any time. Want zero permissions? Text chat needs neither mic nor camera.
Yes. No real name, email, or phone number — your match only hears your voice and sees a generated guest username. With no video, you can talk from anywhere in any lighting without being seen, and Skip ends the call and finds a new voice instantly.
When the network allows, your audio streams straight to your match over an encrypted WebRTC connection rather than through our servers. Because audio needs a fraction of the bandwidth video does, voice calls hold up on mobile data and spotty Wi-Fi where a video call would stutter.
Yes — it works in mobile Safari and Chrome on iOS and Android with nothing to install. Because there is no video, it is easy to keep a call going hands-free, on speaker, or with the screen off while you do something else.
Yes. There is no camera feed to scan, so voice safety puts the controls in your hands: Mute silences someone instantly, Skip drops them, and Report sends the account to our moderators, who act quickly on threats, harassment, and illegal content.
Yes. Text chat is pure messaging — no mic, no talking out loud — which is handy in a quiet room or a noisy one. It shares the same anonymous identity and matching as voice, so switching modes does not reset anything.
Voice matching is free for everyone, with no cap on call length or how long you search. Premium is optional and only adds filters like gender and nearby matching — the calls themselves stay free.
Voice calls on Yapping run on WebRTC, the same real-time technology browsers use for live audio. When the connection allows, your audio travels over an encrypted peer-to-peer link, so it stays between you and the person you matched with rather than being stored on our servers. Because audio uses far less data than video, calls stay stable on mobile data and weaker connections.
Matching and signaling run over secure transports (TLS). If a direct peer-to-peer path is not available, a relay server helps complete the call — it passes the audio through but does not publish or record it.
We treat live voice as a high-trust surface. With no video to scan, safety leans on quick controls and community reporting to reduce harassment, spam, and abuse.
See our Terms & Conditions and Child Safety Policy.
Microphone access is requested only by your browser when you choose to start voice chat. Yapping does not silently enable your mic, and we do not record or sell your live audio. You can revoke permissions any time in browser settings. For data handling details, read our Privacy Policy.
Random voice chat on Yapping is for adults only. You must be 18 years of age or older to use voice features. By continuing, you confirm you meet this requirement.
Tap Start and we pair you with someone else who is ready to talk — no signup required.
Allow mic access once, and WebRTC opens an encrypted audio connection so you can hear each other in real time.
